Materials Investigation

“Materials Investigation”

In science we have been learning about everyday materials and their properties. This week we did an investigation to see which material would be the best to make an umbrella for Barnaby.

To make it a fair test we dropped the same amount of water onto each material using the pipette. We counted 20 drops each time. Before we started we made predictions then we did our experiment.

We found out that fabric absorbed the water and it started to leak and made Barnaby wet!

The paper got wet and started to tear.

We came to the conclusion that plastic was the best material to use for an umbrella because it didn’t go through and slid right off.

We had so much doing this investigation!
